My Hotel History

I have stayed in a hotel by myself a total of four times in my life. Two of those times happened within the last week. It is becoming a habit to take a photo of every hotel room I stay in by myself. Here is the photographic evidence:

Hotel #1: Near the airport in Rome. It was free because my flight was three hours late from Moscow, causing me (and about half the plane) to miss my connecting flight to Naples. Upside: There was free dinner and breakfast as well. Downside: The airline didn't return my suitcase to me that night, leaving me with basically a toothbrush and an iPod and an extra change of underwear for the night.

Hotel #2: Tunis, Tunisia. After 26 hours on a ferry and sharing a taxi into the city with a nice couple from the Netherlands, I found this little place near the train station in Tunis. The owner of the hotel was really nice and the only person I met in Tunisia who spoke English. The night before I left he asked me to help him get to America to help him find an American wife. Somehow I lost his email address...Oh yeah, and my room was the only room in the hotel to have a shower. It didn't have a toilet--but it had a shower.

Hotel #3: Motel 6. Laramie, Wyoming. After 12 hours of driving I pulled up to the world famous Motel 6 in Laramie, Wyoming at 4:00 AM. I proceeded to sleep for five hours and then got up and kept driving. It was right next to the freeway and the walls were really thin. (read: it was hard to fall asleep because of all the noise.)

Hotel #4: Motel 6. Kearney, Nebraska. When I decided that after 12 hours of driving that I really didn't want to drive through the night in torrential rain amongst lots of road construction and large trucks on the freeway, I got a room for the night in Kearney.

It was pretty nice.

I find it interesting that your photogenic backpack can't be found on the 4th picture... ;)

Wow, I didn't realize that there was such a disparity between the quality of a motel 6 based on location. They really know how to do it up in Nebraska, don't they? I've always known Nebraska was the classiest place on earth.
